Changes

Posted by Matty

So, I haven ' t written anything lately. This isn ' t because I lost both my hands in a freak thresher accident, or because I refuse to believe that the Internet exists. The reasons are far more pedestrian. The kind folks that give me money in exchange for my services (a.k.a. work) have been keeping me pretty busy for the past several months. Now, I’ve got some breathing room and am going to tackle a project that I’ve been putting off for months (or years).

Change is in the air and you are all down wind. Starting tomorrow, I am going to be redesigning this website. Over the course of the next week to ten days, I am going to be working on the design every night for a few hours and your thoughts count.

My changes will be updated on this front page every night, and I will try write of the specific details as I get the design and the code together. Throughout the redesign, the site will continue to be usable, and the individual articles will still look the same. Only the front page will be “under construction”.

I will keep the comments open, and would like to hear what you like or hate. You read the site. Is there anything that you would like to see? Anything that bugs you? For me, the existing site is pretty rough. It was pretty cool in 2003, but we are ready for some changes ’round these parts.

General geekery on the inside

Testing, testing… 123

Posted by Nanc

This blog has been quiet for quite some time, but I think we’re gearing up to use it again. There are some big changes that are coming down the pike, namely a new babe!

I love how a blog can be used to keep family and friends in touch with our lives, even if it’s a little impersonal. (Hey, I can’t call or write everyone about every little fun or fragile detail.) I also love how a blog can become a personal record of our lives: special moments, creative projects, recipes, and silly moments.

There are, of course, social network sites (Facebook), but a blog allows me to stretch out a bit and ramble on if I want. (This post, for example.)

So get ready for some posts and updates here as well as some flashes from the last year. (We might not have been posting updates, but life certainly continued!)

Here are some pictures and video of Evie’s nursery. Nanc and I have been working on it for a while, and finally have something to show off!

Who’s next?

Posted by Nanc

My brother Kevin was here for a quick but welcomed visit last week. We all had a great time, but I think Evie was instantly smitten with her uncle (and vice versa).

Sleepy-Time Gals

Posted by Matty

Mom and Evie are both tuckered out, and are sleeping, so I thought that this would be a good time for a quick update.

If you were expecting an article about knitting, pez, or something other than cute baby, you will be sorely disappointed. Besides the baby being the main focus of our life right now, we’re using these web updates to keep all of the far away Grandmas and Grandpas, Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, and friends involved with Evie’s daily changes.

What would you do?

Posted by Nanc

Perhaps I should save this for the “Weird Things About Me” meme, but I’ve just got to say it: I’m stubborn. Horribly stubborn. Like ‘I will always win at chicken’ stubborn, despite what injuries may occur. (I don’t believe that I’m stubborn when it comes to reasoning and logic and getting along with other people, but I could be fooling myself.)

I am stubborn about my knitting, though. Like when I should just stop knitting and look for a solution or a different project, instead I carry on.

This past month has sped by at an alarming rate, and I’m not quite sure if I remember all of it. There were ups and downs, changes in logic, and gob-smacked moments. I’m happy for where we have ended up, but- my-lands -that was a bumpy ride!

So we finish up SOCKtoBEER with not a single completed pair of socks, and look forward to better knitting juju in NOROvember.

One down, one to go

Posted by Nanc

Can you believe it? I know I can’t. I actually have one of the SockapalOOOza socks done!

Sure, sure – one sock doesn’t make a pair, and my pal would probably not be too happy with a do-it-yourself kit. I understand, but stop raining on my parade, man. Just enjoy the sock that is.
