Happy 5th Birthday!

Nanc and I noticed that a notable birthday recently passed. In March of 2003, toysaregoodfood.com was born.

We picked the name 'toysaregoodfood' after hours of domain searching. Once you realize that every single possible domain name that you want has been taken, you get a little punch-drunk. It still doesn't make any sense, but I can't imagine the name being anything else.

Indulge me in a quick look back. Way back in 2003, the website was coded by hand in Notepad. (Uphill both ways. Without any shoes.) Sure, it put hair on our collective chests, but we now both have a healthy respect and understanding of HTML to fall back on when we need it.

Nanc started knitting in 2003. Wanna see a lost picture of her very first yarn 'stache? Check the gallery. I've also included a picture of her first knitted item, a Gryffindor scarf.

Some of the articles that we first posted on that yellow, brown, and blue website in 2003 are still very popular. Several people (including Nanc's brother Craig) consult with 'The General' before making any major decisions. Nancy wrote about her sewing table, which still gets a boggling amount of web traffic. I wrote a piece on a weird amusement park in my home town that still gets hundreds of hits every week.

I would also be neglectful if I didn't mention another 2003 event. That was the year that Rachel and Jason got married. We did our part by providing a couple of PEZ to mark the occasion.

Happy 5th toysaregoodfood. I hope we're still neglecting you, and occasionally updating you in 2013!

Help us name the truck

This past weekend was a blur of activity, including buying a truck, gardening, and building gardening accessories.

Alas, the truck has no name, and we are at a stalemate. Click the link to read more and make truck name suggestions.

First off, truck talk. This past weekend, (well, Thursday if you wanna be a stickler for facts) we traded in Biatch, our aged and trusty blue Mercury, for a truck.

The truck is a used preowned 2006 Toyota Tacoma. It's exactly what we need: a dependable vehicle with a giant trunk, good for camping trips, carting stuff around, and carrying sheets of wood, drywall, etc. from the neighborhood hardware store.

Nanc and I are at an impasse over the name. She fancies "Chuck the Truck", while I favor "Steely Dan." Do you have a preference or a new and fantastic name? Exercise your democratic right to vote by leaving us a comment below. Your vote could be the tie-breaker!

Also, there are fleeting pix of the new triangle garden box that we're building in the backyard. It's not quite finished, but it will more than double the space we are allocating for the square foot garden.
