I've been eying that sock pattern in the vintage sock book. And I can't believe that you didn't have anything in your extensive sock yarn stash. But knitting socks for the mater and pater is a perfect excuse to go buy more yarn. I'm sure they'll feel the love after they receive them and wear them for the first time.
